Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree

Merry Christmas Everyone!!! We hope you are all enjoying the culmination of this Holiday Season. Remember, “Whatever you do to celebrate…..be happy, be thankful for those you love, and for those who love you, and all the friends who are there for you.” I received these great words in a Holiday Greeting just yesterday and wanted to share them with all of you as I think they suit the dance community best. In my view, Dancers around the World are exceptional at keeping these values alive not just during this special time, but all year ’round!!! We understand that life is nothing more than one great, big dance floor! And so, it is through Dance that we celebrate all that this life has to offer -the good, the bad, and the indifferent. We tend not to take each other for granted and savior every moment together. As a result, we gain so much than just dancing itself. We gain strength and support through friendship and camaraderie. We share in a community that is very much a family and whatever the occasion, We Dance!!!!

With that said, we would like to remind everyone to come out and celebrate in our usual fashion this Thursday. It is a special time of year for sure and it feels as if we haven’t danced in ages! Perhaps this would be a great way to free yourself of some of the stress you might be feeling as a result of the seasonal hustle and bustle!!! So, come on out and let yourself loose on the dance floor. If you have any left over Holiday sweets that you’d rather not keep in the house for the next week, feel free to bring them along. We’ll setup a table for Rich…I mean…everyone to enjoy!

Also, we’d like to invite Santa to join us for a well-deserved night out - no reindeer, no wish lists, no pesky fire places! Come dressed as Santa as he heads into the off-season and we’ll waive your cover charge for the evening!!! Hope to see you there!!! Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night of dancing awaits!!!!

No Dancing Tonight…

13 12 2007

Greetings Dancers! I spent all morning trying to decide if we needed to cancel tonight’s dance. Just as I decided that I would setup for whatever turn-out there might have been, I received a call back from the Polish Club alerting me that the club would be closed this evening.

While I think the decision is wise, I’m doubly dissapointed because we will not be dancing next week either due to a planned scheduling conflict at the PACC.

The Dance Collaborative would like to wish everyone a very happy holiday season. We’ll pick things up on December 27th, 2007. Bring your holiday cheer!!! Get in free if you come dressed as a jet-lagged Santa!!!

Until then, anyone want to go skiing? I’ve had a hard time getting excited about ski season this year so any extra motivation from fellow snow sports enthusiasts would be much appreciated. It’s gonna be good this weekend, very good!!!

Stay safe if you are still planning on venturing out this evening!!! Enjoy the Snow!!!

We Did It Again

3 12 2007

For those of you who were there I don’t have to tell you about the great night we had last Thursday! With nearly 70 people in total, including only a few non-dancers, the atmosphere last Thursday night was amazing!!! Special Thanks goes out to DJ Dance for coming out and providing a great mix while tending to your requests all night long. We hope to have him back real soon! Also, I’d like to Thank our old friend Vance Reed for lending us his speaker stands. They really helped with the acoustics and made the DJ area more approachable. We also had Randy Pelletier from the One Eyed Parrot Dance Club on the floor along with many of his dancers. Randy is a big part of our local dance community and we were delighted to have him add to the fun!

Don’t worry If you missed the fun last week. We’ll make it happen all over again this week, December 6th, 2007. We have another great night planned. Everyone should look forward to our two lessons for the evening, D.H.S.S and Hickety Bickety. While both dances are considered Beginner/Beginner+ , they seem to capture all the fun and excitement we’ve ever felt on the dance floor. These dances are definitely “keepers” as they are easy to learn and so much fun!!!! We can’t wait to share them. I’m confident you are going to really enjoy them both and learn them with ease!!! For this reason, it would be a great night for any newcomers! So, bring your non-dance friends along and let them get a sense of how sweet it is to be a Dancer!!! As always, the more the merrier!!!

I’d like to take a moment to apologize for being a bit disorganized early last Thursday night. I was late getting out of work and didn’t make it to the hall until quarter after six. From now on I’ll be sure to be really strict with my work schedule on Thursday evenings.

On a similar note, I hope no one has been discouraged during the lessons over the last couple of weeks. Todd and I are anxious to introduce new dances and share the amazing diversity that exists in Line Dance today. However, rest assured, our number one interest is keeping everyone dancing as we have all along! I’m sure you can all appreciate how lucky we are to have an instructor like Todd, limitless in his ability to teach. But remember, your input is needed as we head into the future. The dance floor is yours, we are simply facilitators who share in the passion. Every decision we make is made with the intention of doing what is best for all of you. If we head into an unfavorable direction you need to tell us. If you have specific interests, you need to also tell us. Don’t forget, it is our aim and promise to maintain a patron guided program. Don’t hesitant to be pro-active when it comes to your Dance experience. We Thank You for your patience thus far. Read the rest of this entry »
