Opening Night A Success!!!

18 11 2007

The Dance Collaborative - Opening Night 11/15/2007Hello Dancers!!! I’m happy to report we had an overwhelmingly successful opening night last Thursday. We want to Thank everyone for helping get this started off on the good foot, literally :)

We had a beginner lesson taught by your’s truly. It was my first time teaching so I want to thank everyone for being so patient. I think everyone enjoyed “Sexy Tractor”. It’s a fun little dance. After some more dancing Todd taught an intermediate dance call “Ain’t Got No Money”. I had never seen this dance. I really liked it, but I definitely need a review!!!

If you don’t mind my sharing, I’d like to say that Thursday night was a defining moment in a very difficult year for me. As many of you know, I moved back home last January after attempting to create a life for myself in Utah. Living in the mountainous west was always a dream of mine, an ideal for sure. However, over the course of what was a tumultuous year to say the least, I was able to do quite of bit of soul searching and ultimately decided that I needed to return home and continue growing in the place where I first set my roots. For Dancers, By Dancers…

12 11 2007

Welcome to The Dance Collaborative! Rooted in Western Massachusetts, The Collaborative was founded in an effort to host and maintain a weekly function for social dancers of every skill and variety. Our main goal is to provide a stable and reliable platform for all dancers to enjoy!

The primary focus of The Dance Collaborative is to secure, promote, and enhance the social dance community throughout the region, but most importantly right here at home. Being that we are The Dance Collaborative we will happily open our floor up to anyone who is interested in instructing or just sharing something new with our “Dance Family“. Over time, we hope to be able to invite guest instructors from near and far to help expose our patrons to all that exists in the World of Dancing!

The Collaborative will keep an all-inclusive, patron guided mindset. Dance is for everyone and shouldn’t be limited by style, rhythm, or music genre.

With that said, Line Dance will remain central to the efforts of The Dance Collaborative. Line Dance combines all styles and rhythms of dance, making for the perfect social medium for dancers of all levels, including beginners.

As we strive to make this a truly all-inclusive format we invite dancers outside of the line dance community to attend our weekly dances. We will have a Dance DJ on hand every week who will be sure to play a good mix of rhythms, from West Coast Swing to Two-Step. We will be sure to maintain a healthy dance etiquette, ensuring a quality dance experience for all who attend.

Beginning Thursday, November 15, 2007 dancers throughout the region are invited to attend our inaugural dance to be held at The Polish American Citizens Club in South Hadley, MA. We are fortunate to have the support and enthusiasm of club management and hope to make the PAC our permanent home.

So, come on out on Thursday night and have some fun! There will be a line dance lesson, a full bar, and an all-request night of dancing!!
