It’s hard to believe, but it’s been two years since the doors flung open to a new kind of dance experience! In that time, we’ve shared so much. As an organization, we’ve learned what works and what doesn’t. We’ve learned what a talented group of dancers we really are. We’ve tried our best to keep things fun and enjoyable for all whom attend. We’ve had the great pleasure of introducing instructors from around the region. And by encouraging everyone to support other dances, to attend dance events, workshops and fundraisers, We’ve stayed true to our mission - To Secure, Promote, and Enhance to Community of Dance.

As a whole, we’ve experienced so much together. We’ve celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, holidays, and other random things along the way. We’ve enjoyed so many happy moments, a few not-so-happy moments, and others that were just weird. We’ve had ups, downs, and all-arounds, but we’ve never stopped dancing! New dances, old dances, we just keep dancing and for all of these reasons we couldn’t be more proud. Thank You for your continued support. As we’ve said time and time again, It’s All About Dance, By Dancers, For Dancers!

As many of you know by now, Rich is heading to higher elevations and beyond. Over the years, he’s managed his many outdoor pursuits along with his equal love for Dance and the close knit family it has provided. Over the last year, Rich has been looking to make a positive change for his future. A change that might one day lead him to a place, physically and mentally, that better suits his passion and awareness for the things he loves. So when the opportunity to assume the position as Caretaker at Harvard Cabin presented itself, the decision came easily.

Of course, his decision did not come without a bit of contemplation. After considering Work, Dance, Friends and Family Rich decided it was a good decision given his time and place in life. In many ways it seemed life had been pushing him in the direction of such change. The decision to live on the mountain upon which he made his first Alpine Summit at 16 years old, the same mountain on which he still recreates year-round, seemed all too appropriate. This decision is the first of many he’ll make over the next few years. One that he hopes will serve as a segue to other opportunities in the Natural World.

We’d like to invite everyone out this Thursday as The Dance Collaborative celebrates the start of our third fantastic year!!! Rich would love to see everyone before he heads north for the Winter. Especially if he hasn’t seen you in a while. Come out for a few minutes or a few hours. Though Rich promises not to be a stranger, he’d love to see as many of you as possible. Rich won’t see most of you until Line Dance Showdown 2010 comes around. This Thursday, it’s gonna be a great night!

It has been a splendid Fall so far! We’ve had warm days, cold days, rainy days, snowy days, and everything in between. A reminder that “There is no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather”

While it’s been difficult to keep up with the weather over the last few weeks, things are reliably HOT on the dance floor every Thursday night! This week will be no exception as it is time again for our annual Halloween Party. We had a great turn-out last year in terms of numbers and fantastic costumes. We hope to see some more of that great dance spirit again this year!

The full entourage will be back this week. Chock-full, no doubt, of new dances learned at this year’s Falmouth Floor Filler held this past weekend on Cape Cod. We hope everyone whom attended had a great time and learned lots of new dances. We’ll look forward to playing all of your latest favorites this Thursday…along with some “Spooky” Classics.

Just like last year, if you care to share your “Tricks or Treats”, will have a refreshment table setup in the hall. Oh…and don’t forget your costume!

Over the summer months we were visited by many of our dance friends from throughout the region. Sharing our love of dance with friends far and near really accentuates the common thread we all share.

The Fall is always such an exciting time of year, especially in the Dance World. Come join in the fun every Thursday!!!

Hello Dancers! Hopefully everyone has been getting their fill of the wonderful weather we’ve been enjoying all this week! It sure has been great! The only thing that could trump the great weather would be a jam-packed dance floor again this Thursday! Even better news is that starting next Monday, March 30, 2009, Todd and Staci will resume their Beginner Nights at the Polish Club! Todd and Staci offer the newbie dancer a fantastic introduction to basic foot work and the fundamental techniques of body movement, style, and rhythm! But, don’t let that scare away, this is for anyone and everyone who has ever wanted to dance! There will be a published schedule including dances that will be taught! Participants will learn something new every class! Best of all, after the very first week, new dancers will be able to join in the fun on Thursday nights or any boot-scoot, honky-tonk, or dance floor you might come across!! If you’ve always wanted to learn to dance, don’t miss this great opportunity to learn from a couple of very experienced Instructors and a Champion Choreographer! Most Importantly, don’t miss the fun!!! Please help spread the word! Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, co-workers! The more the merrier! We hate to disappoint everyone but, due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict at the Polish Club, we will be unable to host our weekly dance next week, April 2, 2009!We’ll be back the week after, chalk-full of fresh, new dances learned at the annual Line Dance Showdown in nearby Framingham, MA! You’ve heard this before, you’ll hear it again! This is a fantastic event for everyone! Line Dance Workshops all day, All-Request Dancing All Night! Variety Shows, Classic and Choreography Competitions, Hundreds of your Line Dance friends from around the World, Memories to last a lifetime, and, of course, The Showdown itself! It doesn’t get any better then this folks and we don’t even have to get on an airplane, like so many of our friends! Go for the day, a night, or the whole weekend!!! More info at http://www.linedanceshowdown.comFinally, We’d like to share a story with everyone. It’s about a dancer named Minty McNeill Coyne (You can read her Story by Clicking Here). Dear Old Minty sure is an inspiration but, so are all of you! Minty is at the point in her life where she is displaying the epitomy of what it means to be a Dancer! Fortunately, we still have many more dances to look forward to. I can only hope that we will never take one of them for granted! After reading this story, we just wanted to thank everyone for being part of such an awesome community, The Community of Dance! Walk in Minty’s footsteps and keep her in your thoughts!

Despite the calm weather, there’s a “Wintry Mix” of sorts in the forecast for this Thursday evening! Don’t worry, this latest phenomenon will include a warming trend with considerable amounts perspiration! No, we still haven’t found that weather machine but, we do have a perfect remedy for your mid-winter blues! The Dance Collaborative is happy to welcome back the one and the only, Forty Arroyo! She’s never too busy to make her annual efforts through her New England Ladies of Line charity event and other fun gatherings like September Fun and Freedom on the Dance Floor! Over the course of the year, she also instructed at various events all over New England! As usual, you can find out what Forty is up to at http://www.FortyArroyo.com

We just wanted to remind everyone that The Dance Collaborative will be celebrating the Holidays this week! So come out and add to the holiday cheer! Though, the weather outside seems frightful, Santa’s little helpers have assured us that temps will remain above the freezing point this evening. Conditions will be wet and cold but, the roads should be safe! We’ll have lots of toys and goodies on our sleigh. Feel free to bring any snacks or finger foods for everyone to enjoy but, please remember to visit the bar for your favorite cup o’cheer! It’s going to be a wonderful night, rocking ’round the Christmas Tree! We hope you’ll join our celebration! This will be the last dance of the year!!! The more the merrier!!!

We just wanted to wish our Dance Family a very Happy Thanksgiving Holiday. While we wish we could be together this week, we suppose we should spend some time with our non-dancing friends and family…even though they have no idea how to have fun…just kidding, of course!!! We do hope everyone enjoys the start of the Holiday Season! Everyone be safe, we don’t want any 4 AM retail injuries this Black Friday….we can only imagine the die-hard shoppers in our group!

We’ll be back next week so, don’t hesitate -over stuff yourselves this Turkey Day! Don’t forget the Bread & Butter, Hot Potato, Peaches & Cream, Sugar & Pie …heck, why not a little Jose Cuervo to help with digestion! Don’t worry, come next week you’ll get to work off all those extra calories! If you really need your weekly fix, we encourage everyone to explore the other wonderful dance floors we have to enjoy throughout the region! Go Forth & Dance and have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!
